Exercise and rehabilitation for osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a "silent" disease that weakens bones, increasing fracture risk. Physiotherapy is the most important non-pharmacological measure for its prevention and management. Proper exercise can increase bone density by 1–3% annually. During home physiotherapy, the therapist designs a personalized program according to bone density and patient condition. It includes: weight-bearing exercises such as walking and gentle hopping, resistance exercises for muscle strengthening and bone stimulation, balance exercises for fall prevention, and posture exercises for kyphosis prevention. Important is avoiding trunk flexion and intense rotation exercises that can cause vertebral fractures. With proper physiotherapy, patients maintain their bone health and avoid dangerous fractures.
