Cerebral palsy: home physiotherapy

Physiotherapy for children with cerebral palsy.

How physiotherapy helps

Cerebral palsy is the most common motor disability in childhood. Specialized pediatric physiotherapy is the most important therapeutic intervention and should start as early as possible to leverage maximum neuroplasticity of the developing brain. During home physiotherapy, the therapist applies specialized approaches (Bobath/NDT, Vojta, CIMT) adapted to the child\u02bcs needs. The program targets motor function improvement, spasticity reduction, balance and gait improvement, and fine motor enhancement through play. Parent education plays an important role so that therapy continues daily through proper handling and positioning. Systematic physiotherapy 2–5 times per week can dramatically improve the child\u02bcs functionality and independence.
